A Database of Amtgard Ephemera & Memorabilia
The goal of this project is to catalog all of those site tokens, belt favors, and other random bits of memorabilia before they are lost to time. Even with Amtgard's relatively recent founding date in 1983 there has been a lot of lost history in this club.
Ephemera is defined as "things that exist or are used or enjoyed for only a short time. Items of collectible memorabilia, typically written or printed ones, that were originally expected to have only short-term usefulness or popularity." The majority of items in amtgard fit this definition. Belt favors fall apart, or become lost in the bottom of a sword bag far more commonly that we wish to admit. Even when the item remains, sometimes the connection with it falls away.
This site is a way to preserve those items, and the memories that go along with them. It allows you to share favors and celebrations with amtgard all across the country, sharing ideas and keeping the link between the item and its purpose alive. Please, comment on the items. Add any missing details, or simply stories that that item is involved in. We are old enough that oral tradition isn't always enough anymore, we need to start writing things down.
